My Story
Ananda Sleeman is a qualified clinical psychologist from South Africa. She has worked with adults and children with severe mental health difficulties in both psychiatric and community setting in South Africa. She moved to New Zealand in 2018 and spent two years with the Department of Correction after which she opened a private practice in Lower Hutt. She is qualified in Level 2 Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, the Group Traumatic Events Protocol (GTEP) and the Recent Traumatic Events Protocol (RTEP) and is currently completing a Certificate in Trauma Studies with the Trauma Institute run by Dr Bessel van der Kolk. She has trained in group therapy, psychodynamic therapy, child and adult therapy and assessment as well as a range of treatment methods, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Transactional Analysis (TA), and Object Relations Therapy, and is an accredited ACC provider. Ananda lives in Auckland with her partner and their feisty dog Sigmund. She is exploring her new home city and discovering things daily in the biggest little city in Aotearoa.
